Bayer Leverkusen edged closer to Champions League qualification on Tuesday with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Inter Milan, courtesy of a 90th-minute strike from Nordi Mukiele.
The goal not only sealed the win but also marked the first time Inter had conceded in the competition this season.
The result saw Inter drop to fourth in the group standings with 13 points, while Leverkusen climbed to second, also on 13. Both teams remain in contention for a spot in the top eight, which guarantees automatic progression to the round of 16.
Leverkusen dominated possession with over 60% and created the better opportunities throughout the game. Nathan Tella struck the post early on, while Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Tah tested Inter’s defense with dangerous attempts.
However, it wasn’t until the dying moments that Mukiele capitalized on a goalmouth scramble to secure the decisive goal for the Germans.
