Paris Saint-Germain secured a crucial 3-0 victory over RB Salzburg on Tuesday, with Goncalo Ramos’ fine finish, a goal from Nuno Mendes, and a late strike by Desire Doue propelling them into the Champions League playoff spots.
Luis Enrique’s team displayed sharp attacking play in the first half, with Lee Kang-in, Achraf Hakimi, and Bradley Barcola all testing Salzburg’s goalkeeper Alexander Schlager, who made several key saves.
However, it was Hakimi who provided the assist for Ramos to open the scoring on the half-hour mark.
In the second half, PSG continued to press, and Mendes extended their lead in the 72nd minute with a powerful left-footed strike from Doue’s pass.
With five minutes remaining, Doue sealed the win with a third goal to complete the comfortable victory.
After a poor start to their Champions League campaign, PSG now find themselves in 24th place, just inside the playoff positions, with seven points from six games. Meanwhile, Salzburg sit in 32nd place.
