The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a four-year-old girl, Amina Garba, after she drowned in a well at Kofar Waika, opposite Masallacin Karmawi, in the Ungoggo Local Government Area of the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the agency, Saminu Abdullahi, said the Kofar Nassarawa Fire Service received a distress call at 2.05pm on Monday from one Alkasim Ibrahim.
He said on arrival, the rescue team discovered that the four-year-old girl accidentally fell into the well.
“Our formation received an emergency call at 2.05pm from one Alkasim Ibrahim that a girl had drowned in a well,” he said.
Abdullahi explained that the team immediately swung into action and succeeded in retrieving the body of the girl, who was later confirmed dead by health officials.
He said the remains of Garba were handed over to the Ward Head of Kofar Waika, Alhaji Isma’ila Yusuf, for necessary action.
“The victim was rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead. Her remains have been handed over to the ward head of Kofar Waika, Alhaji Isma’ila Yusuf,” he added.
