The 2024 CAF Awards, a celebration of African football excellence, will take place on Monday at the iconic Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco.
This prestigious event will honour the continent’s finest football talents from the past year, with Kate Scott and Jalal Bouzrara leading the proceedings as co-hosts.
The announcement, titled “Kate Scott and Jalal Bouzrara to Present 2024 CAF Awards,” was made in a press release on the CAF website.
Kate Scott
Kate Scott, an internationally acclaimed sports broadcaster, brings her expertise and charisma to the event.
Fluent in four languages, she has hosted major global sporting ceremonies such as the FIFA Ballon d’Or and the Laureus World Sports Awards.
Currently a prominent face on CBS Sports’ UEFA Champions League coverage, Scott has built an illustrious career with previous roles at CNN and SkySports.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the event, Scott stated, “It will be a privilege to be on stage and in the room alongside some of the most influential names in football. African football gives the global game soul. The talent born there is immense, and the culturally diverse way in which it is lived from nation to nation makes football one of the heartbeats of the global game.”
Jalal Bouzrara
Joining her on stage is Moroccan journalist Jalal Bouzrara, a seasoned broadcaster with over 30 years of experience in sports media.
Known for creating popular programmes such as L’Match and L’Club, Bouzrara is no stranger to the CAF Awards, having co-hosted the 2022 edition in Rabat.
Speaking on his return to the ceremony, Bouzrara remarked, “This is the second time I have had the honour and privilege of hosting this magnificent CAF Awards ceremony. You only have to look at the list of nominees for this 2024 edition in Marrakech to see the constant evolution that our football is experiencing, with African stars shining brightly in every corner of the world.”
The awards ceremony will spotlight remarkable performances and contributions to football across the continent.
Among the top five nominees for the Men’s Player of the Year award are Achraf Hakimi, Ademola Lookman, Serhou Guirassy, Simon Adingra, and Inaki Williams. With such a stellar lineup, the event promises to be a celebration of the exceptional talent that defines African football.
Other winners in various categories will also be announced, with PUNCH Online confirming the results will be revealed tomorrow night.
In a related development, CAF announced that its Executive Committee will convene in Marrakech on the morning of December 16, 2024.
The meeting, chaired by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, will commence at 09:30 local time (08:30 GMT/10:30 Cairo time) and will address the 2025 CAF calendar and other pressing matters.
Following the meeting, a gathering of the 54 CAF Member Association Presidents, along with the CAF Executive Committee and Dr. Motsepe, will take place at 11:00 local time (10:00 GMT/12:00 Cairo time).
