Corporal Juliet Chukwu of the Nigeria Police Force has brought pride to the nation by claiming the Bantamweight Championship title at the renowned Extreme Fighting Championship held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Competing against elite fighters from across the globe, Chukwu’s remarkable performance demonstrated her exceptional skill, discipline, and determination.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, shared that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated Chukwu on her accomplishment.
He described the victory as a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to excellence not only in law enforcement but also in sports.
“This victory is not just a win for Corporal Juliet Chukwu, but a win for the entire Nigeria Police Force and the nation. It is proof that our officers are capable of excelling in all spheres of life,” the IGP said in the statement.
Highlighting the IGP’s efforts to integrate sports into the Force, Adejobi noted that the introduction of Mixed Martial Arts as an official sport has been a key initiative under Egbetokun’s leadership.
“Under his leadership, the Force has introduced MMA as an official sport, established the Nigeria Police MMA Association, and organised the maiden IGP MMA Open National Championship. The sport is set to make its debut at the 14th Biennial Police Games in Oluyole, Oyo State, next year,” Adejobi revealed.
Chukwu’s achievement, he added, is part of a broader spectrum of successes by the Nigeria Police Force, ranging from advancements in crime prevention to organizational reforms and personnel development.
“The IGP has stated that the NPF will continue to support Corporal Juliet Chukwu and all police athletes on their journey to greatness, as the Force would keep on aiming to achieve more honours in several other areas,” the statement continued.
The Force reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an environment that nurtures talent and encourages officers to thrive in all fields, including sports.
Adejobi emphasized, “The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to organizational development and success, with several programs and initiatives emplaced towards this goal, even in the area of sports. The Force is dedicated to nurturing talent and fostering an environment that encourages excellence for its officers in all endeavours.”
Chukwu’s victory has not only solidified her place as a champion but also further highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s growing legacy of excellence across diverse spheres.
