Former Manchester United Player, Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly agreed a record-breaking £172.9million per year deal to join Saudi Arabian club, Al Nassr.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by Daily Mail UK.
It was reported that Ronaldo reportedly signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Al Nassr, worth a staggering £172.9million per year, that will allow him to play until the age of 40.
After his explosive interview with Piers Morgan went viral on the internet in early November, Ronaldo has dominated the headlines in recent weeks.
The Portuguese star harshly criticized Manchester United as a club and manager Erik ten Hag in the interview, stating that the club had not grown since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013, and adding that he had no respect for Ten Hag because the manager had no respect for him.
Sources close to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, however, insist that no deal has been signed and that Ronaldo is still focused on the World Cup with his country, but reports in Spain today by Spanish newspaper outlet Marca claim the figures have been agreed.
On November 22, the 37-year-contract old’s with Manchester United was mutually terminated after the club thanked him for his contributions during the two spells in which he scored 145 goals in 346 appearances.
The football association in England slapped Ronaldo with a £50,000 fine and a two-match ban in April, following an incident in which Ronaldo smashed a fan’s phone at Goodison Park after Man United lost to Everton last season.
