Serie A side Udinese has announced that Nigerian goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has successfully undergone surgery to address a wrist injury he sustained during a match against Genoa.
In an official statement on their website, the club confirmed that the surgery was aimed at repairing damage to the scapholunate ligament in Okoye’s right wrist.
The injury forced Okoye to miss Udinese’s recent 2-1 win over Monza, but the Nigerian international had been a key player for the team, making 15 appearances across all competitions this season and keeping four clean sheets.
The surgery, conducted by Dr. Loris Pegoli at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan, was described as a complete success.
The club stated, “Maduka Okoye underwent surgery to repair the injury to the scapholunate ligament of his right wrist. The operation, performed by Dr. Loris Pegoli at the ‘La Madonnina’ clinic in Milan, was a complete success. The footballer will begin rehabilitation in the coming weeks.”
After a difficult spell at Watford, Okoye has rejuvenated his career at Udinese, becoming an integral figure for the club.
As he starts his recovery, the Super Eagles goalkeeper is determined to return to the pitch and continue to strengthen his place in the team.
