Wolverhampton Wanderers pulled off a dramatic 4-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, securing their first set of back-to-back Premier League victories since February.
The win came after their first league triumph of the season before the international break, and they were eager to build on that momentum.
Wolves made an energetic start, with João Gomes testing Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno early with a powerful shot from distance that required a strong save.
However, Fulham quickly grew into the match, and the home crowd was left stunned when they failed to take the lead on 18 minutes.
Antonee Robinson delivered a perfect cross across the goal, but Raúl Jiménez, standing just a few yards from goal, managed to scoop his shot onto the crossbar when it seemed impossible to miss.
Just as the tension began to build, Alex Iwobi calmed Fulham’s nerves in the 21st minute. Collecting the ball on the edge of the box, Iwobi curled a magnificent shot into the far corner of the net, giving Fulham the lead.
It was his third goal of the season and his sixth in 11 meetings against Wolves, a remarkable record against the Midlands club.
Wolves, however, responded brilliantly to the setback and leveled the score just before the half-hour mark with a goal of their own.
Mario Lemina, with a composed long pass, found Matheus Cunha in the box, and the Brazilian striker showed excellent control before lofting the ball delicately over Leno to make it 1-1.
The second half saw Wolves come out with even more intent, and they completed their comeback within eight minutes of the restart.
Cunha turned provider, sending a precise pass to João Gomes, who took a touch and calmly slotted the ball past Leno to give Wolves the lead. Fulham tried to respond quickly, with Robinson’s cross finding Iwobi, but Rayan Aït-Nouri made a crucial defensive intervention to deny Fulham the equalizer.
The match remained lively, with both teams attacking relentlessly. Cunha almost added a second but was denied by a superb block from Calvin Bassey. Fulham, looking for a quick response, saw Harry Wilson hit the woodwork, but the hosts couldn’t find the breakthrough, despite Marco Silva’s triple substitution aimed at turning the game in their favor.
As the match entered the final stages, Fulham’s hopes faded when Wolves sealed the win in the 87th minute. Winning the ball back in Fulham’s half, Cunha capped off a fantastic performance with a stunning first-time finish from outside the box, his 14th Premier League away goal since the start of last season, a tally second only to Erling Haaland.
To add insult to injury for Fulham, Gonçalo Guedes put the game to bed in stoppage time, scoring Wolves’ fourth and final goal of the afternoon. This victory was crucial for Wolves, lifting them out of the relegation zone for the first time this season. Fulham, on the other hand, suffered just their second home defeat of the campaign, having previously been unbeaten in their first five league matches at Craven Cottage.
In another exciting Premier League fixture, Brighton & Hove Albion triumphed 2-1 over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
The match was decided by goals from Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma, while Bournemouth played with 10 men after Carlos Baleba was sent off in the second half.
Pedro, continuing his fine form, opened the scoring for Brighton in the fourth minute, capitalizing on a rebound after Georginio Rutter’s powerful shot was saved by Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Brighton’s lead was extended shortly after halftime when Mitoma finished off a brilliant through ball from Pedro, calmly slotting into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Bournemouth mounted a late response, with David Brooks reducing the deficit in injury time, but Brighton held firm to secure all three points.
With the victory, Brighton moved up to fifth place in the Premier League table, with 22 points from 12 matches, while Bournemouth dropped to 13th, looking ahead to the remainder of the weekend fixtures.
