The Nigeria Police Force has ramped up security efforts in Ondo State ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The enhanced security measures include support from the Nigerian military, as part of a coordinated strategy to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
The Defence Headquarters confirmed the deployment of troops to key border areas and identified hotspots across the state to bolster the policeβs operations.
The election will take place across the stateβs 18 local government areas, with 17 political parties presenting candidates.
Among the contenders, the race is expected to be tightly contested between the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress and Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples DemocraticΒ Party.
