The Federal Road Safety Corps, on Monday confirmed the death of twelve persons in a road accident in Sokoto State.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr Kabiru Yusuf-Nadabo, while confirming the incident also revealed that five persons were left injured.
According to Yusuf-Nadabo, the tragedy occurred Sunday evening at Madake village in the state’s Shagari Local Government Area.
He stated that the event involved a Mitsubishi van carrying 17 people and sacks of maize, guinea corn, and other products.
According to the FRSC sector commander, the vehicle crashed into a ditch, killing 12 people on the scene and injuring five more.
He stated that the affected individuals had been transported to Shagari Specialist Hospital.
