An Abuja resident, Chibuzor Anuforo, has cried out over the deteriorating health of her sister, Olachi Oluka, who is currently suffering from a knee tumour.
According to The PUNCH, Anuforo revealed that Oluka started developing knee pains in January this year.
The 14-year-old was said to have been battling the pain for almost a year, forcing her to drop out of school.
She said, “She started feeling the pain in January 2023 but we felt it was a pain that will stop in no time.
“So, we started giving are pain killer medicine but despite that, the pain will stop for a while and come back. And it became a constant and regular pain which became unbearable for her.”
“This, however, became worrisome and we took her from Owerri, where she was living with a family member to a hospital in Abuja where I reside for diagnosis and treatment. It was there we were told she had a growing bone on her right knee,” she noted.
The family finally took Oluka to a diagnostic centre in Abuja for an X-ray where she was diagnosed with a tumour and N1.6 million was charged for surgery, to make him live a normal life again.
Unable to raise the money, the family took the 14-year-old girl to another hospital.
The new hospital was, however, said to have charged a higher fee of N1.7 million.
The family, however, took her to the FCT Health and Human Service Secretariat hoping for a lesser surgery price.
But unfortunately, N1.6m was charged for the surgery.
According to Anuforo, the family could not raise the money and she pleaded with the public to assist the family in raising the funds for the operation.
“My younger sister is in severe pain and the family can not afford the surgery fee. We have only been able to raise N300,000. Nigerians should please come to our aid. The doctor said if the surgery is not carried out soon, it will become cancerous,” She pleaded.
