The National Youth Service Corps is anticipating the arrival of at least 1,487 prospective corps members for the 2023 Batch C Stream I orientation course in Amada, Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State.
According to The PUNCH, the mandatory three-week orientation program is set to commence nationwide on Wednesday, November 1, and is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
In a press statement released by the state’s Head of Public Relations Unit, on Tuesday,Jennifer Laha, the swearing-in ceremony will be presided over by the state Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, and the state Chief Judge, Halima Mohammed, will administer the oath of allegiance.
The statement partly read in part, “In Gombe state, the course is scheduled to be held at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Science Technical College, Amada, Akko LGA and a total of 1487 prospective corps members are deployed to the state.
“The formal opening/Swearing-in ceremony comes up on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at 10:00 am. The Governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Yahaya, is expected to preside over the event while the Chief Judge of the state will administer the oath of allegiance to the corps members deployed to the state for national service.”
Laha, while assuring the safety of the Prospective Corps Members, called for the customary cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure the comfort of the 1,487 participants.
“We, therefore, enjoin the peace-loving people of Gombe state especially those around Akko LGA and environs to accord the prospective corps members the usual hospitality that Gombe state is known for,” Laha added.
