The Oyo State Government has announced that 15,000 candidates are set to participate in the Computer-Based Test for civil service recruitment scheduled to take place from Monday, November 25, to Thursday, November 28, 2024.
A statement by the commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said the Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, disclosed this during a press briefing at his office in Ibadan on Friday.
He revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde approved the recruitment of 900 officers across more than 60 cadres in the civil service.
“Out of the 22,235 applications received through the state government’s job portal, 15,000 applicants, representing about 67 per cent, met the required qualifications to proceed to the CBT stage,” Aderibigbe stated.
Highlighting the scale of the recruitment process, the Chairman noted that it is the most extensive exercise of its kind in the state in the last two decades. “This recruitment is unprecedented as previous exercises were usually restricted to specific cadres,” he said.
Aderibigbe pointed to past recruitments under the Makinde administration, which included 60 Environmental Health Officers, 692 Education Officers, and 30 State Counsel in 2020, along with 19 officers recently hired for the Ministry of Lands.
The CBT will be conducted at two locations in Ibadan. Applicants for positions such as Education Officers, Environmental Health Officers, Social Welfare Officers, and Youth Officers will write their tests at the Arch.
Bamidele Samson CBT Center, opposite the University College Hospital, on November 25 and 26. Candidates for other cadres will take their tests on November 28 at the Distance Learning CBT Center, Ajibode.
“Invitations have already been sent out to qualified candidates. Those who have not received theirs are advised to refresh their status on the government portal,” Aderibigbe advised. He also emphasized the importance of bringing printed copies of their application forms and invitation slips to the designated centers.
Expressing gratitude to Governor Makinde, Aderibigbe remarked, “This recruitment is a rare opportunity to lift many youths out of poverty and into prosperity. We thank the governor for his commitment to youth empowerment.”
The Chairman urged candidates to be punctual and represent the state positively during the process.
