The APC candidate for governor in Delta, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, has said that the introduction of BVAS machines to the country’s electoral process marked the end of the period of political intimidation and violence.
In Uzere, Aviara, and Olomoro communities in the state’s Isoko South Local Government Area, Omo-Agege, who is also the Deputy President of the Senate, made the statement on Saturday during the party’s ward-to-ward campaigning.
In his words, “The politics of intimidation is over. With the introduction of the BVAS machine by the Independent National Electoral Commission, be rest assured that we buried the politics of intimidation and violence.
“Let me assure our teeming supporters that there will be adequate security in the next elections. For our supporters and Isoko people who want to vote for APC, come on the days of the elections and vote for us.
“For those planning to intimidate our members, they should know that we will resist them,” Omo-Agege warned.
APC members in Isokoland and other areas of the state would be resisted in any attempt to intimidate them, according to the senatorial candidate for Delta Central, who also pledged to oppose any PDP leadership attempts at such a thing.
He asked voters in Isoko and other areas of the state to cast their ballots in large numbers for all APC candidates in the presidential, national assembly, governorship, and state assembly elections, assuring them that there would be sufficient security.
Further assuring the citizens of Delta that their votes will be counted in the upcoming elections, the congressman said that the time when election materials were stolen and thumb-printed in the houses of political figures was long behind.
At Aviara Kingdom, Omo-Agege announced to the applauding crowd that his government had ended and restored the community’s long-running power blackout.
Furthermore, Mr. Joel Thomas-Onowhakpo, the APC’s nominee for the Delta South senatorial seat, advised residents of the state to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards in advance of the next elections.
He urged Delta South voters to support the APC and send the PDP packing by casting their ballots.
Additionally, Thomas-Onowhakpo urged the populace to elect Omo-Agege governor and promised that under his leadership the entire state will see rapid progress.
The culmination of the campaign was the conversion of numerous PDP leaders in Isoko South to the APC, including Mr. James Igbi, a former deputy governorship candidate for the Action Democratic Party.
Mr. Goodluck Obrogo and Mr. James Miller, a political advisor to the majority leader of the Delta House of Assembly, were two more PDP members that left the party.
They declared their defection at Uzere, the rural home of PDP veteran Ogieh, saying they were leaving the PDP for the APC because the Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration was failing to develop the Isoko Nation.
The former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, and the State Chairman of the party, Elder Omeni Sobotie, were also aboard the campaign train.
Others include, the former APC chairman in Delta, Apostle Jones Erue, Dr. Otive Igbuzo, Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo, Mr. Godwin Anaughe, Mr. Karo Ilolo, and Prince Yemi Emiko.
