At least 60 people have been injured, with several in critical condition, following a drone attack in northern Israel, according to first responders.
This incident marks one of the most severe assaults since the conflict erupted in October, given the number of casualties.
While there have been no confirmed fatalities, the sheer volume of injuries suggests the scale of devastation.
The attack follows a statement from Hezbollah on Sunday, claiming responsibility for launching a swarm of attack drones on an Israeli “Golani” infantry training camp located in Binyamina, south of Haifa.
Hezbollah cited the strike as retaliation for Israeli air raids in Lebanon on Thursday, which resulted in the deaths of 22 people and left 117 others injured, according to figures released by the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
The Israel Defense Forces reported the interception of an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from Lebanon on Sunday but provided no further clarification on the location.
It’s yet to be independently confirmed whether the drone specifically targeted the IDF camp.
United Hatzalah, the rescue organization involved, stated, “We provided assistance to over 60 wounded people in various conditions – some of them in critical, serious, moderate and light condition.”
The organization added that helicopters and ambulances facilitated the evacuation of all the injured.
The Golani Brigade, a key infantry division of the IDF historically deployed in southern Lebanon, is thought to be involved in the targeted area, though this remains unverified.
Injured individuals were transported to hospitals throughout Israel. The Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in north-central Israel confirmed it was treating 36 people from what it referred to as a “UAV incident.” The injuries ranged in severity.
Sheba Tel Hashomer Medical Center, located in Ramat Gan, is attending to three patients, two of whom are critically injured.
Rambam Hospital in Haifa reported three more injured victims. Meanwhile, Emek Medical Center in the northern region is caring for four people, with Beilinson Hospital and Bnei Zion Medical Center in Haifa each treating three individuals.
This wave of violence underscores the intensifying conflict between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, as cross-border tensions continue to escalate.
