The world football governing body, FIFA, on Friday announced that it would be introducing two new tournaments to boost women football.
This was disclosed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, at a press conference in Qatar ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup finale on Sunday.
He revealed that the football body will be introducing the Women’s Futsal World Cup.
Infantino also confirmed a women’s tournament would be in place for 2025.
Also during the press conference, it was revealed that a new tournament, named men’s FIFA Club World Cup, is scheduled to begin in 2025, featuring 32 participating teams worldwide.
“The new men’s Club World Cup will take place in 2025 and will feature 32 teams. The 32-team tournament will go ahead, making it like a World Cup,” Infantino said.
