Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, is to pay a surprise visit to Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Thursday.
His visit is viewed as a fresh show of Spain’s support to Ukraine, a NATO ally, after US President Joe Biden’s visit to the capital this week.
According to a statement from his office, Sánchez will deliver a speech to the Ukrainian parliament at Kyiv in a show of support for Ukraine on the eve of the first anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
According to CNN, Sánchez also plans to visit Bucha and Irpin, two towns near Kyiv that have become synonymous with alleged Russian war crimes.
Report has it that Spain is among the number of NATO allies which has pledged its support to Ukraine to provide modern tanks as well as train Ukrainian troops in the Iberian country.
