One person has been reported dead with over scores injured after a passenger train collided with a crane in the southern Netherlands early Tuesday.
According to the Dutch emergency services, rescue teams have been dispatched to the town of Voorschoten, between Hague and Amsterdam, where the accident took place.
According to a fire department official, 19 persons were brought to the hospital while others were being treated on the scene, according to emergency services.
According to local news outlets, a fire broke out in the passenger train’s rear carriage following the crash; it was also reported that at least 50 people were on board.
“Several dozen injured people are being treated at the spot and taken to hospital if necessary,” the emergency services said, adding that “specialists are working to secure the train.”
