A 25-year-old man, Aliyu Sa’ad had on Thursday, been ordered to be remanded in a correctional centre, by a Sharia Court in Kano State, for calling his friend gay.
The presiding Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, gave the order following a guilty request entered by Sa’ad.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 8: pm on Monday.
He stated that the defendant called the complainant, Malam Ahmed Khamis-Ahmed unprintable names following an altercation, noting that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 188 of the Sharia law of Kano State.
However, the case in which the defendant pleaded not guilty, was adjourned till July 3 for summary trial, by Lawal-Abubakar
