The commencement of the 2023/2024 legal year was on Monday marked by a special court session held by the Court of Appeal.
According to Channels, this annual tradition not only ushers in the new legal year but also offers justices an opportunity to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the preceding year, review them, and contemplate the path ahead.
Distinguished attendees included Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, retired Chief Justices of the Supreme Court, justices of the Court of Appeal, and heads of various courts.
Also present were prominent figures such as the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The gathering further comprised the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Barau Jibrin, Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Oluwole Oke, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau, and Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).
