Napoli’s forward, Victor Osimhen, clinched the Italian Footballers’ Association Footballer of the Year award in recognition of his outstanding performances during the previous season with the Neopolitans.
During the award ceremony held on Monday night, several other honors were presented, including distinctions for the team of the year, coach of the year, club of the year, and goal of the season.
Osimhen’s impressive tally of 26 goals played a pivotal role in securing the Partenopei’s first Scudetto in 33 years.
This achievement has also earned the Nigerian striker nominations for prestigious accolades like the FIFA Best and Ballon d’Or awards.
Furthermore, Osimhen’s remarkable season placed him in the Serie A team of the year, alongside standout players such as Mike Maignan, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kim Min-jae, Andrea Bastoni, Theo Hernández, Stanislav Lobotka, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Nicolo Barella, Rafael Leão, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Despite encountering a challenging start to the 2023-24 campaign and recent struggles with injuries, Osimhen has maintained an impressive goals-per-game ratio, registering six goals from 10 appearances after 14 games played.
