Kogi State Police Command has disclosed that it rescued 16 kidnapped passengers in the state.
Spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP William Aya made this known in a statement issued on Monday.
Aya explained that the rescue operation was consequent upon the kidnapping of 11 passengers from Peace Mass Transit Bus and five others from a Sienna bus along Ette Enugu Ezike Road on February 25, 2024.
“The Joint Kogi Police and Military team from Enugu State promptly swung into action, trailed and rescued all the victims from the bush unhurt,” he said.
“Efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects and bring them to deserved justice,” the PPRO added.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, while lauding the joint security team, affirmed the command’s determination to sustain the ongoing onslaught against criminalities in the state.
He urged the people of the state to continued to collaborate with the police and other security agencies in ensuring adequate security of lives and property.
