The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, has suspended a medical doctor at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.
The doctor is alleged to have abandoned patients, leading to complaints from both patients and staff.
The decision to suspend the doctor was made after it was discovered that she had left the hospital without informing the management, despite claiming to be on the premises.
This negligence reportedly resulted in a dialysis patient being left in a critical condition.
Dr. Nagoda emphasized that the suspension would remain in effect pending the outcome of the investigation into the matter.
“The supervision will continue with full force and we expect everyone whose name appears on the duty roster to be at their post. Whoever is found wanting should have their self to blame,” he added.
Dr. Nagoda emphasized the paramount importance of doctors upholding their oath to prioritize saving lives, urging them to increase their commitment to this cause.
He also highlighted that the State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, had approved allowances for medical doctors to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided.
