At least seven people have died, while many injured on Thursday, in a road accident that occurred along Iseyin -Ibadan road in Oyo State.
The acting Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, David Adewale, while confirming the incident said 22 people were involved in the accident.
Adewale reported that the incident took place just after Ijaye town in the Akinyele Local Government Area on Thursday.
He detailed that the accident involved two commercial vehicles: a white Nissan bus with the license plate SEY 254 XY and a white Mazda bus with the license plate LGB 343 XA. Both vehicles were carrying a total of 22 occupants at the time of the incident.
He stated that the accident involved eight male adults, twelve female adults, and two children.
The DCC further explained that five male adults, one female adult, and one female child were confirmed dead in the accident.
He added that the injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital, while the bodies have been deposited at the morgue.
Adewale said, “The accident involved 22 people. Seven died and 15 were injured. The two categories were commercial vehicles. They had a head-on collision as a result of a heavy fall of rain shortly after Ijaye town.
“It involved a Nissan commercial bus, with registration number, SEY 254 XY, and a Mazda commercial bus with registration number, LGB 343 XA. Five male adults, one female adult and one female child all died in the accident.”
The FRSC sector commander therefore, urged motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations and to adhere strictly to all traffic cautions on the road to prevent avoidable crashes.
