A heartwarming story of enduring love unfolded in Kenya as 95-year-old Ibrahim Mbogo and his 90-year-old partner, Tabitha Wangui, tied the knot in a church ceremony this past weekend, more than 60 years after they first met.
According to the AFP, the couple, who have been together since 1960, exchanged vows in a white wedding at a church in Mukurweini, a town located about three hours northeast of Nairobi, according to a report by Citizen Digital.
Speaking after the ceremony, Mbogo reflected on their journey, saying, “We met and fell in love in 1960, do you hear? We thought it would be wonderful to have a white wedding.
Although we are married under Kikuyu custom, as Christians, we felt it was important to have a church wedding.”
For the special occasion, Mbogo wore a dashing grey suit paired with a silver tie, while Wangui looked elegant in a white hat and cream brocade jacket over her white ensemble.
When asked about the secret to their long-lasting relationship, Wangui shared her wisdom with Citizen Digital, advising, “Women, you must respect your husbands. If you do that, you will live as we have. Don’t do any wrong, and when you do, just apologise and seek forgiveness.”
