No fewer than three persons lost their lives at Ayetoro Market in Lagos after a truck, reportedly suffering from brake failure, veered out of control on Monday.
According to reports, the truck was descending from Ita-Opo when it lost its brakes, struck a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry, before crashing into the busy marketplace.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority provided details about the incident, sharing on its official X account that three people were confirmed dead and their bodies taken to the Epe General Hospital morgue.
“A fatal accident occurred due to a brake failure of a truck descending from Ita-Opo,” LASTMA reported. “It hit a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the Ayetoro Market/Complex.”
Officials have since mobilized resources to manage the scene, with a tow truck on-site to clear the damaged vehicles. LASTMA further announced, “Traffic has been diverted for smooth vehicular movement.”
