Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has presented the 2025 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects and meeting the needs of the people.
During the presentation on Wednesday, Adeleke commended lawmakers for their continued support, noting that the proposed budget marks the 34th appropriation bill in the state’s history.
The budget outlines a total expenditure of N390.03 billion, with N144.23 billion allocated for capital projects and N245.80 billion for recurrent expenses.
According to Adeleke, the 2025 budget aligns with the Osun State Development Plan, which spans from 2023 to 2050.
“Our focus remains on fulfilling the people’s expectations by advancing the completion of existing projects and introducing key reforms,” he said.
The budget anticipates a projected revenue of N196 billion from federal allocations, supplemented by N109.87 billion from independent sources.
Breaking down the recurrent expenditure, Adeleke explained that personnel costs, including salaries, allowances, pensions, and gratuities, will amount to N102.90 billion.
“The remaining N142.90 billion will be utilized for other recurrent needs to ensure smooth operations,” he added.
Reflecting on the 2024 budget’s performance, Adeleke highlighted significant achievements across sectors, including healthcare and infrastructure.
His administration, he said, has rehabilitated over 200 primary healthcare centers, improving rural health access by 40 percent, and expanded healthcare access for pensioners from below 10 percent to 90 percent within two years. Additionally, the state has reduced its road infrastructure deficit by half.
