A 41-year-old man, identified as Sergio Sarria, viciously attacked his estranged wife, Débora, 45, in her workplace, a pizzeria in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last week.in an incident that was captured on CCTV.
Sarria broke into Big Pizza, where Débora worked alongside her new partner, and launched a brutal knife assault, stabbing her 28 times.
Débora described the attack as horrific, saying, “He wanted to kill me like an animal. All the stab wounds I have are in my ribs, neck, face and one eye. It was terrible, terrifying. I have a big cut on my elbow because he cut me with that knife.”
The shocking footage shows Sarria leaping over a barrier into the kitchen, where Débora was standing behind the counter, and attacking her with a large knife.
A struggle quickly ensued as Débora tried to defend herself while being repeatedly stabbed. She eventually collapsed to the floor, attempting to shield her face.
Her new partner and another colleague rushed to help, throwing objects at Sarria in a desperate attempt to stop the attack.
Despite their efforts, Sarria continued his relentless assault. Débora, who had endured years of abuse during their 23-year marriage, managed to escape the pizzeria, while Sarria, after removing his jacket, turned the knife on himself, stabbing his neck just as the police arrived.
“Miraculously, he didn’t manage to kill me,” Débora said after being released from the hospital. “I think in large part because of the help I got because they tried to hit him, to get him off me, but he was furious.”
Sarria remains in custody, recovering in the hospital from what is believed to be a suicide attempt.
