Borussia Dortmund cruised to a commanding 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Wednesday night, inching closer to a top-eight finish and securing automatic qualification for the knockout stage.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens broke the deadlock just before halftime, rifling in a shot in the 41st minute to reward Dortmund’s dominance.
Ramy Bensebaini doubled their lead in the 56th minute, rising unchallenged to nod home a well-placed cross. The icing on the cake came in the 90th minute when substitute Serhou Guirassy, making his return from illness, slotted in a late third.
The visitors were relentless, striking the woodwork twice and maintaining control throughout. With four wins in five matches, Dortmund sits comfortably on 12 points, holding fourth place with three games remaining. Dinamo Zagreb trails with seven points.
The competition’s format grants automatic knockout stage spots to the top eight teams, while the next 16 enter playoff rounds.
In another Champions League clash, Ngal’ayel Mukau’s brace propelled Lille to a 2-1 triumph over Bologna.
Despite Jhon Lucumi netting Bologna’s first goal of the campaign in the 63rd minute, Mukau’s strikes on either side of halftime sealed the win for the French side.
Mukau opened the scoring just before the break, capitalizing on a rebound. Bologna briefly leveled through Lucumi, but their celebrations were short-lived as Mukau found the net again three minutes later.
Despite goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski’s heroics, Bologna failed to equalize.
Lille now climbs to 10 points in the standings, while Bologna, enduring its third consecutive defeat, remains stuck at one point.
