The Plateau State Police Command have claimed that a Divisional Police Officer, SP Nwapi Larrycarr, who was recently kidnaped in the Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State has been rescued.
The Nation reported that the Pankshin Division DPO, who was newly posted, was abducted on Thursday, three days after he resumed office, at a Hotel in Pankshin.
It is not known if any ransom was paid to the kidnappers to get the DPO released, however, an anonymous family member, according to the publication, said that the Police officer has regained freedom and reunited with his family.
In a statement by the Command’s spokesman, DSP. Alfred Alabo, on Sunday, he explained, “Following the gruesome kidnap of SP Nwapi Larrycarr Augustus on 11/01/2023 at about 1930hrs by unidentified gunmen to an unknown destination in Pankshin LGA, the Plateau State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies and hunters in the area, swung in to resue mission and eventually unshackled and freed the officer from his captors.
“The officers has be taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment and will soon be reunited with his family.
“In view of the ugly incident, the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Bartholomew N. Onyeka, psc(+) assures citizens of the state that the perpetrators will be fished out and arrested to face justice as the Command will leave no stone unturned in the fight against kidnapping in the State.”
