Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria has partnered with the University of West Scotland to create the African Agricultural Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, which aims to enhance food security and foster economic growth as part of efforts to boost economic growth.
Nairametrics reported that the agreement was verified by Director of the Public Affairs Directorate at ABU, Malam Auwal Umar, in a statement issued in Zaria.
The relationship with the UK university was established thanks to the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala.
He represented ABU in the meeting on cooperation and partnership between the two institutions, which was held in the United Kingdom at the University of the West of Scotland.
The director of the Glasgow-based Centre for Policy Research and Development, Dr. Festus Ogunmola, participated in the negotiations for this collaboration that was backed by the African Forum in Scotland.
He stated that: “The Vice-Chancellor, of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, secured the partnership with the UK university.
“Bala also stood in for ABU at the meeting on collaboration and partnership between the two universities at the University of the West of Scotland, the United Kingdom, recently”.
The partnership’s goal is to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building in the agricultural industry by bringing in fresh talent and the most recent academic findings to support agricultural strategic advancements.
The project’s main objective is to strengthen regional Small and Medium Enterprises in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria.
