An Abuja High Court located in Grade I Area Court, Kado are of the FCT has arraigned three friends for allegedly buying stolen goods.
According to The PUNCH, the three identified as Bello Musa, Abubakar Bihari, both of Pantaker Dawaki area of Abuja and Said Suleiman of Setraco, Gwarimpa, Abuja were charged by the police with criminal conspiracy and for receiving stolen property.
However, the accused entered a not guilty plea.
The Prosecution Counsel, Stanley Nwafoaku, informed the court that on October 5, the complainant, Aliyu Sani of New Dawn Estate, Airport Road, Abuja, had reported the incident to the Life Camp Police Station.
According to Nwafoaku, the defendants were discovered purchasing the iron rods that one Joseph Vincent and Yahaya Bello had allegedly stolen from Sani’s home.
He stated that Bello and Vincent had been detained by the police earlier and that they will be charged with stealing on October 31 in a different court.
According to the prosecutor, the first defendant, Musa, admitted during a police inquiry that Vincent had invited them to Sani’s home to purchase the iron rods.
The offence, he continued, violated the terms of Sections 97 and 317 of the Penal Code.
The accused were granted bail in the amount of N200,000 apiece, together with one surety in the same amount, by the judge, Muhammed Wakili.
Wakili mandated that the sureties, who had to be residents of the court’s geographic jurisdiction, present a printout of their bank’s BVN for a court officer to verify. He postponed the hearing to January 10, 2023.
