The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has directed all security agencies to ensure that the remaining abducted AK-9 Abuja-Kaduna train passengers return home alive.

Buhari gave the directive on Tuesday hours after families of the remaining 50 abducted passengers renewed calls to the Federal Government to secure the safe release of the victims.

Punch Metro reported that the bandits had penultimate Saturday, released 11 persons out of the 61 abducted train passengers.

Subsequently, the negotiator and media consultant to controversial Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Tukur Mamu, Monday, alerted that the victims are being threatened by snake bites and sicknesses.

However, hours after the families of the victims called on the government, Buhari revealed that he has

“I welcome the safe return of the recently-released passengers, to their families and loved ones. I am reiterating my solemn pledge to the families of those still in captivity: we will not relent until every single hostage is safely back home with their families.

“I have directed our security and intelligence agencies to scale up and speed up efforts to secure the safe release of all the remaining abducted Abuja-Kaduna train passengers. My directive is very clear: All hostages must be brought home ALIVE, and as soon as possible.”
