Nigerian actress and comedian Wofai Fada has announced the birth of her daughter, Ifedayo Konaghai Cole, with her husband, Taiwo Cole.
Sharing the news on Instagram on Saturday, Fada expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the moment as one of unparalleled joy.
“We are forever grateful to God for this precious gift. Our princess is here. My joy is complete,” Fada wrote alongside pictures of the newborn.
The announcement sparked an outpouring of congratulatory messages from fans and notable personalities. Media mogul Mo Abudu celebrated the news, writing, “Congratulations, my darling. She is beautiful,” while Nollywood actress Nancy Isime simply commented, “Congratulations.”
The joyful announcement comes months after public scrutiny of the couple’s relationship. In May 2024, videos of their traditional wedding in Calabar, Cross River State, made waves online.
However, the union faced backlash from Taiwo’s family, culminating in a statement denouncing their marriage.
On October 27, 2024, the couple solidified their commitment with a legal wedding at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos State.
Fada shared photos of the ceremony with her followers, captioning, “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite. Legally hitched. @taiwo.cole.7 #TWOforever. #MrsCole. #2 of 3, and forever to go.”
Shortly after the registry wedding, Taiwo Cole’s family publicly disassociated themselves from the union. In a statement issued by Kunle Cole, the family patriarch, they declared:
“This serves to notify all acquaintances, family, and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, is not aware of any marriage ceremony involving our son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole; nor did we grant permission or support in this regard.
“As such, person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole family by virtue of this purported event are neither known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this should be disregarded.”
Despite the family controversy, Fada’s fans and colleagues continue to celebrate her journey. A follower, Rachael Okangbe, commented on the birth announcement: “When I saw a missed call from you, I felt maybe she has put to bed. God is awesome. Big congrats, super mum.”
The birth of baby Ifedayo has brought a renewed sense of happiness to Fada, who earlier this year celebrated her 34th birthday, ending months of speculation about her relationship with Cole, 30.
Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna and Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala joined the celebration with heartfelt messages and emojis, underscoring the widespread joy shared by fans and friends alike.
