Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has vowed to meet with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde in order to facilitate the process of resuscitating the moribund Ibadan petroleum depot, as it will reduce the stress of going to Lagos and other States for petroleum products.
Adeleke disclosed this during a courtesy call by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigerian, warning the IPMAN, Osun State Chapter, to desist from hoarding Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol.
The Governor noted that his administration would never allow the association to subject residents of the State to untoward hardship in their attempt to get the commodity.
Governor Adeleke stated that IPMAN is very important to the country’s economy, noting that whatever happens to petrol will have adverse effects on the economy.
Promising to meet with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde in order to facilitate the process of resuscitating the moribund Ibadan petroleum depot, the Governor assured them that he would continue to carry them along in policy formulation.
“I assure IPMAN that I will look into their long list of requests with a view to assisting them accordingly.
“I will dialogue with Governor Seyi Makinde in order to facilitate the process of resuscitating the moribund Ibadan depot,” he said.
Speaking earlier,
The Chairman, IPMAN, Dr. Bukola Mutiu, had earlier urged the State Government to assist in resuscitating the Ibadan petroleum depot, which served both Osun and Oyo State.
Mutiu argued that if the government can fix it, it will reduce the stress of going to Lagos and other States for petroleum products.
The Chairman urged the government to assist the association in providing grants to help them in deregulating the price of the products, seeking assistance in areas of steady power generation and provision of more buses for them to facilitate movement and monitoring of members.
Mutiu, however, called on the government to give them a harmonised bill, promising that they were ready to support the present administration in regular payment of taxes and levies.
