Air Peace has addressed reports regarding an incident involving one of its aircraft in Abuja, clarifying that the flight operated smoothly and landed safely despite a cracked windshield.
On Monday, passengers and airport staff were surprised when the windshield of an Embraer ERJ 145 appeared to break.
This led to speculation about potential safety issues with the aircraft.
According to The PUNCH, in a statement on Tuesday, the airline reassured the public that there were no abnormal events during the flight.
“There was no panic event on the flight from Akure to Abuja,” the statement read. “It was a smooth flight that landed safely, and the crack in the windshield did not jeopardize the safety of the passengers.”
According to the airline, the cockpit crew discovered the crack on the outer layer of the first officer’s front window after landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.
“The safety of the flight and passengers was never compromised,” the statement emphasized.
“Upon landing, the pilots conducted their routine checks and reported the issue to engineers, who promptly began replacing the cracked windshield.”
Air Peace further reiterated that the situation was handled without any panic or disruption to the flight’s operation.
