A plane carrying Vice-President Saulos Chilima and nine others has lost contact with air traffic control, prompting a search and rescue operation.
The Malawi Defense Force aircraft departed the capital city of Lilongwe on Monday morning but went off the radar, failing to reach its destination at Mzuzu International Airport in the north.
According to the BBC, It was supposed to land at Mzuzu International Airport, in the country’s north, just after 10:00 local time (11:00 BST)
After being informed of the incident, Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera cancelled his scheduled flight to the Bahamas.
