Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the immediate dissolution of the management board of the Ondo State Football Agency relieving Executive Chairman Mr. Dele Ologun and other board members of their duties.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the affected officials have been directed to hand over all government assets in their possession to the agency’s accounting officer without delay.
In the interim, Governor Aiyedatiwa has set up a caretaker committee to oversee the operations of Sunshine Stars Football Club, a key entity under the agency.
Mr. Tokunbo Akinyelure has been appointed as the Team Manager and Welfare Officer of the club, leading the newly constituted caretaker team.
Other members of the team include, Morris Kwaghzever – Special Duties, Abdul Wahab – Kits Manager, Elias Michael – Masseur, Adetula Olumide – Physiotherapist, Ayodeji Abe – Camp Commandant, Ademola Ayodeji – Assistant Kits Manager I, Oria Sola – Assistant Kits Manager II, Imisi Ayodele – Curator, Isaac Afolabi – Media Officer.
The caretaker committee is to report directly to the Office of the Governor.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence in the new team and tasked them with reviving the club’s performance and restoring its glory.
“This is a fresh start for Sunshine Stars, and I expect the new team to bring renewed energy and commitment to the club. They must work diligently to improve the fortunes of the team and uphold the trust placed in them,” he said.
The Governor’s decision is seen as part of broader efforts to reposition sports administration in the state and enhance the competitiveness of its football teams.
