Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has appointed Jacob Gbamwuan as the new Director-General of the Bureau of Homeland Security.
The appointment was announced by the chief press secretary to the governor, Tersoo Kula, in a statement released on Monday.
Kula highlighted that the Bureau of Homeland Security, which was recently established during a security council meeting, operates under the governor’s office.
Gbamwuan’s appointment is effective immediately.
Gbamwuan is a well-educated individual, having studied at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, in Zaria, and the University of Jos and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He holds a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice and has retired into community service prior to his new role with the Benue government.
In his statement, Kula conveyed the governor’s congratulations to Gbamwuan and emphasized the importance of prioritizing the state’s interests in his new role.
“It is the belief of His Excellency that Commodore Gbamwuan will use his wealth of experience, national and international connections, and security expertise to bear on his vision of tackling insecurity in the state,” Kula quoted the governor.
