Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has directed security and health authorities to investigate the mysterious death of four family members after they consumed cassava flour, aka Amala.
According to The PUNCH, they also assured members of the public that the results of the findings would be made public.
“The governor has directed security and health authorities to get to the root of the matter. I want to assure your highness that the reports of their findings would be made public and necessary actions taken,”
The family of four had reportedly died in quick succession between Friday, September 30 and Sunday, October 2 after taking “Amala”
The incident was said to have happened in the Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Those who died included the family head, Pa. Motilewa, his two daughters, and a girl said to be their relation.
One of the deceased daughters, identified only as Motun, was a teacher in the town.
Meanwhile, the mother, identified as Molomo, is still alive in the hospital and under close observation.
