Arsenal have been dealt another injury setback just days before their Premier League showdown against Everton.
The North London club confirmed via their official website on Thursday that Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães has suffered a hamstring injury.
Gabriel sustained the injury during Arsenal’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Fulham in midweek, forcing him to leave the pitch in the first half at the Emirates Stadium. Jakub Kiwior came on as his replacement.
Providing an update on the situation, Arsenal revealed that the center-back is set to undergo surgery in the coming days to address the issue.
“Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season,” read part of Arsenal’s official statement.
“Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be hoping to have Gabriel available in time for their crucial Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid next week.
