Arsenal continued their impressive form with a dominant 5-2 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium, climbing to second place and narrowing the gap to league leaders Liverpool to six points.
Mikel Arteta’s men showcased their attacking prowess, netting 13 goals in their last three outings after previous triumphs over Nottingham Forest and Sporting.
Bukayo Saka led the charge once again in an exhilarating first half that saw all seven goals scored before the break.
The scoring began when Gabriel Magalhaes rose highest to head home from Saka’s corner, marking his fourth goal of the campaign (10). Leandro Trossard doubled the lead with a close-range finish following slick interplay between
Saka and Martin Odegaard (27). Minutes later, Odegaard coolly converted from the penalty spot after Saka was fouled by Lucas Paqueta (34).
West Ham’s defense crumbled further as Trossard’s lofted pass found Kai Havertz, who slotted in Arsenal’s fourth (36).
However, the hosts responded quickly. Aaron Wan-Bissaka continued his scoring streak with a composed finish (38), and Emerson Palmieri lifted the crowd with a stunning free-kick that rattled in off the crossbar (40).
Despite the brief resurgence, Arsenal restored their control when Lukasz Fabianski brought down Gabriel from another corner, allowing Saka to step up and calmly dispatch the penalty in stoppage time.
With suspended coach Julen Lopetegui watching from the stands, West Ham pushed to reduce the deficit in the second half but were unable to break through Arsenal’s defense.
The defeat grounded them after their 2-0 win at Newcastle, leaving them in 14th place.
