Singer, Joseph Akinfenwa, aka Joeboy, has dared the management of his colleague, Bukola Elemide aka Asa, after he was slammed with a copyright infringement suit over his recently-released song, “Contour”.
According to a suit filed against Joeboy and producer Tempoe, the popular Nigerian-French singer-songwriter demanded the sum of N300,000 over infringement.
Asa, through her Lawyers, stated that the song’s composition was created by her during a recording session with Tempoe which took place on 22nd, September 2020. It further stated that their client didn’t grant permission for Joeboy and Tempoe to use said composition.
The instructions contained in the letter demanded that the song be taken off all DSPs within 24 hours of receiving the letter. In addition to this, they also demanded that Joeboy and Tempoe address an apology to their client (Asa) for the copyright breach while seizing any and all further infringements.
Apart from the 300,000,000 naira sought in damages, Asa also demanded a 60% cut of the split sheet.
However, Joeboy appeared unfazed by the suit and dares Asa and her lawyers to do their worse.
“LOL (Laugh out loud)” “Cos I dey always do love and light you think sey I be soft meat,” he wrote, maintaining that his calmness should not be taken for weakness.
