The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, sympathized with the families of the victims of the reported chemical explosion, Igbo Ogwu international market, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Atiku sent his condolences and said a word of prayer for the families through his Facebook page on Tuesday.
The multi-million naira Onitsha Drug Market, popularly known as Ogbo Ogwu, was on Tuesday afternoon gutted by fire, which claimed now fewer than three lives and destroyed a building, leaving 10 people wounded.
Fire was said to have resulted from an explosion at the Chemical/Surgical Line of the market. One person was said to have died instantly.
Atiku said, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those affected by the reported chemical explosion in the popular Ogbo Ogwu International Market in Onitsha Anambra State.
“On behalf of my family and team, I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and the government and people of Anambra State.
“I urge for government to ensure quick response to such situations to not only forestall such occurrences but also prevent loss of lives and properties.”
