Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 33-year old man, Danladi Ibrahim, for drugging and rapping a 10-year-old girl.
Ibrahim, a resident of Nasaru village in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, was arrested by the police after the victim father reported the case to the devisional police station on the 25th of May, 2023.
Reports revealed that the suspect deceitfully given the girl a lemon drink mixed with intoxicant, which led to her unconsciousness, while she was eventually defiled.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who confirmed the incident, stated that the victim’s father reported the incident at the divisional police headquarters in Ningi, the headquarters of Ningi LGA of the state.
However, he stated that the victim sustained serious internal injuries in her private part, which led to her bleeding.
“On the 25th May, 2023 at about 1233hrs one Abubakar Garba Yahua ‘m’ of Nasaru village Ningi LGA, Bauchi State, reported at Divisional Headquarters Ningi that on the same date at about 1141hrs, one Danladi Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Nasaru village, Ningi LGA deceitfully gave a lemon drink to his daughter one Nadiya ‘f’ (not real name) aged 10yrs old suspected to be mixed with a toxicant which led her to an unconscious condition and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“As a result, the victim sustained serious internal injuries in her private part and is bleeding,” he started.
Explaining further, the police spokesperson, revealed that a team of police, led by the DPO, rushed the victim to the Ningi General Hospital, for proper medical attention, but she was being transferred to the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre Ningi, Ningi LGA, where she was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State for further medical attention.
However, he disclosed that the suspect, who was later arrested by the police, has confessed to have committed the crime, noting that he will be charged to court after concluding the investigation, while also assuring to get to the root of the matter.
“The Command has since vowed to get to the root of the matter and ensure that the erring culprit is brought to book to serve as a deterrence of future occurrence,” he stated.
However, he called on parents and guardians to be vigilant with their children and wards, noting that it is necessary for parents to keep a check on the whereabouts of their children and wards, to avoid such an ugly incident.
“The general public will be updated as the investigation unfolds. The command would like to use this medium to reiterate the need for parents and guardians to maintain strict vigilance of the activities of their wards.
“It is pertinent now more than ever that the whereabouts of wards and the company they keep are constantly kept in check by all those responsible,” he added.
