The operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command, have arrested a 33-yeae-old man identified as Danladi Ibrahim, resident of Nasaru community in Ningi Local Government Area of the state, for allegedly raping his 10-year-old daughter, Nadiya Ibrahim.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed this while speaking with newsmen in Bauchi in a statement issued on Friday.
It was learnt that Danladi took advantage of his daughter after allegedly giving her a drink mixed with a toxicant substance, which made her to become unconscious and the suspect thereafter raped her.
According to the statement, “On the 25th May, 2023 at about 1233hrs one Abubakar Garba Yahua of Nasaru village Ningi LGA, Bauchi State, reported at Divisional Headquarters Ningi that on the same date at about 1141hrs one Danladi Ibrahim aged 33yrs of Nasaru village, Ningi LGA deceitfully give a lemon drink to his daughter one Nadiya (not real name) aged 10yrs old suspected to be mixed with toxicant which led her to an unconscious condition and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her therein.
“As a result the victim sustained serious internal injuries in her private part and bleeding.”
The spokesman explained further that the victim was, however, taken to General Hospital Ningi for immediate medical attention and later referred to the National Obstetrics Fistula Center Ningi and thereafter referred to Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State for further medical attention.
“The suspect Danladi Ibrahim was arrested. During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to have committed the crime,” the Police spokesman added.
SP Wakil added that investigation was ongoing after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
