The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Elizabeth Bidei, has died.
According to The PUNCH, her passing was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, who expressed condolences to her family.
While the cause and date of her death were not disclosed, the statement described Bidei as a committed public servant who championed the welfare and empowerment of women in Bayelsa State.
Koku-Obiyai said: “Our hearts go out to the bereaved family. Our prayers are with them during this profoundly difficult time of grief. Mrs. Bidei’s life and work left a lasting impact on our state and its people.”
She also extended her sympathies to Bidei’s husband, Jackson Bidei, and their children.
“As we mourn Mrs. Bidei, we will deeply miss her dedication and passion as a loyal party member and public servant. Her contributions to the promotion of women’s welfare in Bayelsa State will never be forgotten,” Koku-Obiyai added.
