Registrar of Bayero University Kano, Malam Jamil Ahmad Salim, has died.
He passed away in Kano on Wednesday morning. He had reached the age of 60.
The university’s vice chancellor, Professor Sagir Abbas, announced the death in a statement on Wednesday.
“The University Management received with shock the news of the sudden death of the Registrar, Malam Jamilu Ahmad Salim, who passed away this morning, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, following a brief illness,” the statement states.
“We ask Allah to pardon his transgressions and grant him Aljannatul-Firdaus. Amin.”

According to the statement, Malam Salim, who served as the university’s registrar for the previous four years, was hailed as a devoted and diligent employee who made a significant contribution to the growth and development of the organization.
Today at 10:00 am, the BUK Central Mosque in New Campus, Kano, will offer the funeral prayer for the deceased.
“Malam Salim’s passing leaves a huge hole in the academic world of Nigeria and the community at Bayero University. His passion, diligence, and commitment to the institution’s expansion and development will be sorely missed.”
On March 15, 2021, Salim was first named acting registrar; he was then confirmed in October of the same year.
He was buried at Dandolo cemetery in the Kano metropolis.
