Legendary Brazilian footballer, Pele, is said to have been hospitalized in Sao Paulo as a result of swelling all over his body.
According to Daily Mail, Pele was brought to the Albert Einstein hospital on Tuesday in an unscheduled visit by his wife, Marcia Aokoi, and a caregiver. Pele is reportedly receiving treatment for metastatic cancer.
His condition worsened after he was identified as having “decompensated heart failure,” “anasarca,” “edemigemic syndrome,” and “general edema.”
According to reports, Pele’s chemotherapy for his cancer has ceased to be effective, and he has also been identified as having mental confusion.
A series of tests are scheduled for the 82-year-old football legend on Wednesday to provide a more thorough evaluation of his health conditions.
While Pele is also having trouble eating, they are also planning to investigate the possibility of a hepatic encephalopathy.
His daughter, Kely Nascimento, has insisted that there is no cause for alarm because her father’s hospitalization is not unexpected, despite the fact that his medical team and Pele’s family are very concerned about his condition.
She posted on Instagram: “Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad’s health. He is in the hospital regulating medication.
“There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Years and promise to post some pictures.” She said.
