Nigerian Mixed Martial Art star Israel Adesanya defeated his fiercest rival Alex Pereira to reclaim his UFC middleweight title in the main event of UFC 287 on Sunday morning.
In what happened to be their fourth meeting, second in the UFC, Adesanya knocked out the Brazilian after just two rounds in the rematch which took place at the FTX Arena, Miami, Florida, USA.
Pereira had been torn in the Nigerian-New Zealander’s flesh during their time as kickboxers, knocking out ‘The Last Stylebender’ across two kickboxing bouts before the pair transitioned to MMA.
History repeated itself in Madison Square Garden, New York on November 12, 2022, when Pereira who squared up with the Nigerian for their first MMA meeting five months ago secured a TKO of Adesanya in the final round of their first MMA fight.
Adesanya had the opportunity to reclaim his belt and pride, and the Nigerian took the bull by the horns from the start of the fight before leaving the Brazilian out cold at the FTX Arena.
More to come…
